用途：生化研究。BCIP/NBT 底物溶液产生暗蓝色不溶的末端产物用于免疫组织化学、涉及到碱性磷酸酶探针的Northern/Southern 杂交。5-溴-4-氯-3-吲哚磷酸(BCIP) 和氯化硝基四氮唑蓝(NBT)用于比色法鉴定碱性磷酸酶标记分子。BCIP/NBT底物系统用途非常广泛：包括 Northern Southern, Western blotting, 原位杂交（in situ hybridization）和免疫组织化学。BCIP 可以有两种盐的形式，这些盐型可用于制备和NBT结合的储存溶液和反应缓冲液，构成碱性磷酸酶的底物溶液。底物系统和碱性磷酸酶一起培养，产生一种不溶的带紫色的NBT双甲腊( diformazan )产物，容易被观察。
